The Radiator Springs Courthouse[1], known locally as the Municipal Courthouse,[2] is a two-story, brick building located in downtown Radiator Springs. Shared with the Fire Station, it is the eastern-most structure in town, overlooking the edge of Main Street while the massive Radiator Cap looms behind it.
History

The Courthouse was the first major construction at Stanley's Oasis, the area which later became Radiator Springs; it was the backdrop of Stanley and Lizzie's wedding.[3] A bronze statue commemorates the former; a small, single-stream fountain represents the original freshwater spring he found at the oasis.[1] Fire Station resident and service-truck Red maintains its appearance, as well as that of the surrounding potted flowers.
As of the 1940s, the Courthouse employed many Carburetor County residents, such as Red, Sheriff, and Milton Calypeer.[4] Some time after his arrival in the mid-1950s, Doc Hudson became the town judge.[5] Sally Carrera became Radiator Springs' lawyer and attorney following her California departure. The traffic courtroom was rookie race car Lightning McQueen's second stop upon his untimely arrival in May 2006.[1]
A to-scale replica appears in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, where it is adjacent to the Radiator Springs Racers attraction line.
Behind the scenes

The building originally was conceived as the "Traffic Court House" according to American Car.[citation needed]
A collection of oil pastel paintings line the courtroom walls, each one presenting information about the town and even automotives' history. The layouts were sketched by Nat McLaughlin, and digitally painted by John Lee in 2005.[6][7]
- One depicts an academic Model T, likely an early judge or lawyer; another captures young Stanley next to a portrait of nature.[7]
- Another depicts a brown tow truck weighing a beam balance, and bearing a Latin motto: Justitia Omnibus, or "justice is blind" in English.[6]
Another Latin phrase, "Justitae via strata veritate" is inscribed above the entrance doors.
