Pixar Cars Wiki:Forking announcement
After 13 years and more than 3,000 travelers, the Disney•Pixar CARS Wiki is incredibly proud to announce that we're officially forking from Fandom! We've built a shiny, new home all to our own name, bigger and better than ever before. But don't let the fancy new paint job fool you – we're still the same, humble community we've always been, ready to turn straight back to bringing the world's largest CARS resource into the Next Generation!
Huh? He did what with his fans?

Long story short, we're the newest in a fast-growing movement to split from our longtime hosts at Fandom, and essentially reclaim the freedom and resources we as a community once enjoyed in the olden days of Wikia. Since our foundation in 2011, we've watched our executive landlords bow ever-insatiably to their bottom line, with thoughtless regard to their loyal users: From replacing key resources with mediocre social feeds, to stripping creative communities of their custom experiences, to crashing every possible page with relentless, intellectually-insulting ad bloat, our beloved Wiki had long since passed the point of recognition. Commence the infamous AI invasion of February '24 (remembered to the right) – when bizarre fanfiction forcibly replaced our own intro on the pride Lightning McQueen page – it was clear what must be done.
We've spent almost a year moving our massive wiki over to this NEW website, carefully transferring every page, edit, and image so we could pick up right where we left off... all leading to this moment, where our core user-base and full administrative team will officially be "moving in" and begin editing and maintaining THIS site over the Fandom one. Our Discord server, social media accounts, and all other affiliates will cease to associate with Fandom, and instead promote the new site.
This all leaves one glaring pothole dead in the intersection: Why is our supposedly "former" shell of a site STILL jamming up Google's traffic, and welcoming business just like it always has? Well, whatever our wishes may be, Fandom will NOT under any circumstances close their archive of the Pixar Cars Wiki – when you've spent several, effortless years reaping the spoils of others' hard work, why pull the plug now? Put bluntly, the matter of directly "closing" the old site is well out of our hands. But that doesn't mean a thing.
To compete with... ourselves, we're simply going to be better than before. More content, more members, more opportunities... we'll make our output more reliable, more current, more meticulous, until the Fandom site could never dream of catching up. That's where we need EVERYONE'S help. Tell your friends, your family, your off-screen agent, that the Disney•Pixar CARS Wiki is the Next Generation of vehicular expertise... that we're more free than ever to honor the passion, craftsmanship, and painstaking attention to detail that make CARS so special to so many of us.
This is only the beginning... cruise around the new town and see what we've set in store!
Catch you on the roads,
